We left Portsmouth, VA yesterday around 5am. The wind was OK but we motored most of the way to the gulf stream - hoping to get in and out as quickly as possible. We've had gusts up to 30 or so but everything was manageable. We're in the gulf stream now and expect to exit this afternoon. Eric caught and lost a fish. I felt SO sick for the first day but more sleep is making a huge difference. Turns out, even sailors can get sea sick. I am as bad at drinking water as ever but feel the effects more. Cheez-its are the king of snacks.

I had funny dream of Robin at the helm during night watch. Eric and I were in bed in the salon and I had a view of him through the companion way. He was loudly practicing lines from Monty Python's Holy Grail - a scene with the knight. He was working out the voices and clearly frustrated when he couldn't quite nail them. It was probably... 4 am. My thoughts on his soliloquy were that he was pretty good at the voices AND he had clearly started to lose it (but in a fun way!)
We're all glad that it mostly isn't raining and our layers don't have to be as extreme as all our trips to date. Fed my sourdough starter today and started listening to the audio book 'My Brilliant friend'.
Almost hit another boat named Free At Last in the middle of the ocean. Eric and I were lounging in the cockpit with autopilot on. We had been on the same course for hours. Then as we were waxing poetic about something or another we hear, "Where are you going?" We both jump up, turn around and see that not only are we within earshot of another boat - we are headed straight for them and about 200 ft out. Eric, quick as ever, laughed and said we wanted to get a closer look of their beautiful boat. We then fell off of our collision course with Free At Last and continued on, doing a quick 360 scan a little more often than before.
